Public Domain Content PDF Print E-mail

Did you know that it is legal to sell public domain video, images, audio and text - if it is in the public domain?  Another fact you might not have known - if you alter public domain property in any way, you can copyright it yourself; for example, colorizing black and white video.

Here is another factoid you may not have known; you can copyright a list or a collection of mterial that is copyrighted by other parties.  Ownership in the properties would not change; only the collection would be copyrighted; for example: "John Hyat's Top 100 40s Films".

In today's time starved world, IP collections are one of the most convenient and useful ways to package media. Forget about ownership, the simple concept is what we're discussing here. Putting together content in a thoughtful, consistent manner saves time and is consistent with standard bying habbits of just about everything.  If you are going to exploit public domain content, and you are not planning on the high production cost of colorization, overdubbing, translation, subtitles, etc. - then you should probably look at ways to package collections, which would not require as much monetary investment.

Talk to MultiMediaCart about ways to exploit the content that you create, package and/or distribute.  We'll connect you with the technology, copyright experts, and the business consultants who can answer all your questions about selling public domain or licensed copyrighted material from your Web site.

YouTube Superstars PDF Print E-mail
General

Did you know that some of the top music acts, and some of the top comedy acts, started by placing their privately produced videos on YouTube? February 14, 2005, former PayPal employees, Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim,  begin work on a site to do for online video, what Flickr did for online photographs. They register youtube.com the next day. These folks are known as 'YouTube Superstars'.

In five short years, YouTube reshaped Internet media, rocked traditional media, and redefined political journalism. It has also created dozens of music, video and film stars. Justin Bieber and Soulja boy are just a few of the names who have become international superstars after posting a few videos on their YouTube accounts. The question now becomes, what if these artists made premium content available on a pay per view basis?

Would one hundred miillion Justin Bieber fans pay $10 to join a fan club, with exclusive access to his new music videos? Would fans of the newest Hollywood starlet pay $20 to see her in exclusive Webisodes? Enterainers are now using the Web for publicity, but with solutions from MultiMediaCart, new artists will be able to sell content, merchandise and even perform live via the Web. What would one hundred million Justin Bieber fans pay to see him perform in his own studio? What would a billion charity supporters pay to see a live broadcast of entertainers supporting a cause that was both popular and important to those celebrities fans?

Talk to MultiMediaCart about your questions dealing with on demand or live broadcast of new artists; we know how to establish strategies that use online media to enhance traditional media. We'll help you test markets, business models, and media - to develop the most effective branding and revenue generation.
