What is Valuable Content?
Conent is considered valuable when there is a demand for it to pay the fair market value to see it on demand and/or download it. It could be as few as one person or corporation. If that party will pay a million dollars for research data, then the content is very valuable, and the online sale is indeed a value proposition. So, a single viewing and/or download of a PDF document on the Web could profit the seller as much as a live boxing championship or UFC match on satellite and cable television.
The reality is, the Web makes it faster, far easier and more cost effective to transfer large volumes of data, make it easier to browse and search, and access and download - than any other medium. High speed connections exist in a majority of American households and a large number of American offices. Furthermore there is an astronomical volume of content being stored in both hard copy and digital format. There are millions of software applications that could still be valuable if the could be demonstrated or deployed live on the Web. But it is likely that a vast majority of valuable content is unavailable on the Web and completely unexploited. If a music act or author appears on a popular TV talk show, their music videos, films, webisodes, lectures, and ebooks, can generate massive potential online revenue (since such appearances have a huge impact on book sales, Web searches and the viewing of videos). But if digital media or other exclusive online access is not deployed, they can't generate a single red cent.
MultiMediaCart is the perfect solution for providing fee-based access (pay per view, pay per minute, pay wall, and free authorized access) to all media. How do you decide what is most valuable? How do you access content value? It is a highly complex question, and best answered by those familiar with specific topics, industries, diciplins and communities.
Of course, it is not easy to find or develop information with such enormous value to a small group of wealthy individuals or corporations. It is a lot easier to make a profit by selling mass market content to a larger target audience. Such as movies, music, games, and access to live events and social networks.
So, we see that there are a lot of factors involved in determining value. Some of these factors can be controlled by the publishers, and some are out of their control. But we do see some trends with winners in the pay per view and paywall publishing industries:
1. Provide samples or summary of content to the public as a way of publicizing it; otherwise people may not know it exists, let alone look for it. 2. Make content available for a reasonable amount of times. 3. Do not permit customers to purchase the same content twice, this causes major problems (MultiMediaCart disables these types of customer mistakes). 4. Organize Content so that it is easy to browse
There is a myth that only entertainment content generates money on the Web. That is far from the truth. U.S. and British IT, finance, and marketing publishers generate hundreds of millions of dollars each year with their paywall sites. Of course, pay per view and pay wall publishers often must sacrifice advertising revenue if they don't have enough free content to attract unique (new) visitors. The top-selling content publishers outside of the entertainment industry, sell highly specialized content that businesses and industry benefit from. Marketing information. Scientific and medical research. Access to surveys, data and technology. Access to experts giving live workshops and online classes. Live classes might not be considered valuable for a pottery-making class. But a live class by a Wall Street Wizard who could turn onehundred thousand dollars into one million dollars in fifteen minutes would probably get lots of paying viewers.
The value of content is increased when it is harder to find elsewhere, and when processing or utilizing the content can be highly profitable, such as in scientific, medical or financial services. Call MultiMediaCart and tell them about the content you want to sell or make available on the Web.
